The State Investigation Bureau is investigating a case of extorting bribes from the military "in the front line" for transfer to the rear, according to the court registry.
According to Glavkom, the scheme was organized by the former deputy chief of staff of the Ground Forces Command, Vladimir Gamanenko, who was appointed by Zaluzhny in December 2022, using his friendly connections among military officials.
He and his accomplices were detained on receiving a bribe of 230,000 hryvnias (around $5,700) from a military officer and later sent to a pre-trial detention center on bail from one million to 4.5 million hryvnias (Gamanenko's).
